Every culture has its own customary mixed drink creations.

the Germans are famous for combining their pure Reinheitsgebot brews with carbonated sodas or fruit preserves.

In Mexico and many other Central/ South American countries.

there’s a tradition of mixing light beer and Clamato. In classier circles, this drink is referred to as a Bearded Clam. Thirsty yet?

a large quantity of Chelada was discovered at Acapulco Grocery.

I’ve read reviews on this beer, which usually leave me in tears from laughing

As the other food site contributors assessed Acapulco’s taco offerings, I settled down with my 16-ounce can of Chelada and prepared to hold back the sickness.

Printed instructions of clamato…

Printed instructions on the can remind me not to shake this diabolical beverage.

And Clamato — I’m not suggesting that it’s an inferior beverage, it’s just not how I like to run my refreshment game.

Without any kind of container to pour this Chelada into…

Without any kind of container to pour this Chelada into, I had to consume the foul concoction directly from its can.

I used my shirt to scrub off the years of miscellaneous dirt that gathers on Chelada cans in tiny ethnic grocery stores.

After a fair amount of stalling

After a fair amount of stalling, I cracked it open and stared into the tiny hole.

Dear. God. It’s pink.

I definitely didn’t want to see the full appearance of this cocktail or stir up the bits of clam snot sediment that have, no doubt, settled to the bottom.

The brew clamato?

The brew, if you can call it that, had the aroma of a Bloody Mary as smelled in a seafood market.

The fishy, spicy tomato essence mixes with a slight sweetness from Bud Light’s signature adjuncts.

My initial reaction to the first sip

It’s an unhappy marriage of offensive flavors.

Very much like a Bloody Mary, only dreadfully salty and a little fishy.

Mouthfeel

Pass the mouth bleach, please; my work here is done.

It’s regional and authentic, a celebration of cultural tradition.  The novelty is ruined, reducing the drink to a can of mass produced, crappy, fishy, tomato beer.

How much alcohol does Smirnoff vodka?

SMIRNOFF No. 21 Vodka. Distilled From Grain. 40% Alc/Vol.

    Is Smirnoff vodka strong?

Vodka is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in the world and for a very good reason. It is a very strong liquor commonly having 40% alcohol by volume.

Can you get drunk off Smirnoff vodka?

Due to the similar alcohol contents, it’s likely that one could get drunk by drinking the same number of Smirnoff Ice that they would beers. However, the actual number of Smirnoff Ice it takes someone to get drunk varies, depending on a variety of factors such as: Their body weight.

Is 4.5 alcohol enough to get drunk?

If you have not drank very much alcohol before and you plan to drink it all in one night, yes most likely you will get drunk or at least very “buzzed”. Even on 4.5 % alcohol, you will still have plenty enough on hand to become at least mildly intoxicated.

Can you smell vodka on someones breath?

If someone takes a straight shot of alcohol, like vodka or something, and you immediately smell their breath, it’s not very strong, but you can still smell something. With time, it goes away. If you take the same amount of vodka and dilute it with water, it doesn’t smell as strong.

Which vodka is better Smirnoff or Absolut?

Absolute vodka is much stronger than a Smirnoff would be and it’s defiantly not as sweet. Would advise mixing with this drink. Drinking absolut straight is way different then drinking shmirnoff. It’s a lot strong but still very smooth I would definitely recommend mixing it with a juice or something.

What vodka is better than GREY goose?

The top 10 vodkas, renowned for their flavour profiles, smoothness and use of high-quality distillation methods, are: Belvedere, Beluga, Grey Goose, Crystal Head, Hangar 1, Ciroc, Absolut, Ketel One, Pinnacle, and Svedka.

Is 6 shots of vodka a lot?

If you are a woman, up to 2 to 3 shots of vodka will work fine for you. If you drink up to 5 to 6 shots of vodka glasses, you will start feeling drunk. This is your maximum limit. However, if you drank another, you will be completely drunk, and you will surely have a hangover.

How much vodka is safe per day?

According to the US Dietary Guidelines, 2015-2020, people should limit their alcohol-related risks by drinking in moderation, meaning up to 1 serving of alcohol per day for women and up to 2 servings per day for men.

Is it bad to drink vodka every day?

Drinking copious amounts of vodka every day is in no way advisable, nor is it good for your health, especially your liver. However, drinking a moderate amount of vodka every day is good for your heart. It increases the blood circulation in your body and helps you keep your cholesterol levels down.

    What is the strongest alcohol?

Here are 14 of the strongest liquors in the world.

    1. Spirytus Vodka. Proof: 192 (96% alcohol by volume)
    2. Everclear 190. Proof: 190 (95% alcohol by volume)
    3. Golden Grain 190.
    4. Bruichladdich X4 Quadrupled Whiskey.
    5. Hapsburg Absinthe X.C.
    6. Pincer Shanghai Strength.
    7. Balkan 176 Vodka.
    8. Sunset Very Strong Rum.

Which supermarket has the cheapest vodka?

Vodka. Again, starting with 1L bottles, Tesco is taking the lead on offering the cheapest options for Absolut Vodka.

How much do you need to drink to get drunk?

A person who weighs 100 pounds (45 kg) can become intoxicated after two or three drinks, while the twice as heavy person will hardly feel the first signs of drunkenness after three drinks. However, impaired judgment and slow effects start with 0.02 BAC (blood alcohol concentration).

    Smirnoff

Smirnoff (/ˈsmɪərnɒf/; Russian: [smʲɪrˈnof]) is a brand of vodka owned and produced by the British company Diageo. The Smirnoff brand began with a vodka distillery founded in Moscow by Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov (1831–1898).[1] It is now distributed in 130 countries[citation needed] and produced in several countries including Argentina, Albania, Brazil, Honduras, India,[2] Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Mongolia, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States[citation needed].   products include vodka, flavoured vodka, and malt beverages.[3] In 2015 India’s Officer’s Choice overtook Smirnoff vodka to become the world’s largest selling spirit brand. In 2014, Smirnoff was the best selling vodka across the world.[4]

The vodka is unaged made using a traditional filtration method developed by P. A. Smirnov. Recipe No. 21 was created by Smirnov’s son Vladimir after escaping Russia during the October Revolution.

what percentage of the earth’s freshwater is available for drinking

Hello dear friends, thank you for choosing us. In this post on the solsarin site, we will talk about “ what percentage of the earth’s freshwater is available for drinking “.
Stay with us.
Thank you for your choice.

what percentage of the earth’s freshwater is available for drinking

Distribution of the Earth’s water

Earth is known as the “Blue Planet” because 71 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. Water also exists below land surface and as water vapor in the air. Water is a finite source. The bottled water that is consumed today might possibly be the same water that once trickled down the back of a wooly mammoth. The Earth is a closed system, meaning that very little matter, including water, ever leaves or enters the atmosphere; the water that was here billions of years ago is still here now. But, the Earth cleans and replenishes the water supply through the hydrologic cycle.

The earth has an abundance of water, but unfortunately, only a small percentage (about 0.3 percent), is even usable by humans. The other 99.7 percent is in the oceans, soils, icecaps, and floating in the atmosphere. Still, much of the 0.3 percent that is useable is unattainable. Most of the water used by humans comes from rivers. The visible bodies of water are referred to as surface water. The majority of fresh water is actually found underground as soil moisture and in aquifers. Groundwater can feed the streams, which is why a river can keep flowing even when there has been no precipitation. Humans can use both ground and surface water.

Distribution of the water on Earth

  • Ocean water: 97.2 percent
  • Glaciers and other ice: 2.15 percent
  • Groundwater,: 0.61 percent
  • Fresh water lakes: 0.009 percent
  • Inland seas: 0.008 percent
  • Soil Moisture: 0.005 percent
  • Atmosphere: 0.001 percent
  • Rivers: 0.0001 percent.

Surface water is far easier to reach, so this becomes the most common source of potable water. Problems also exist in contamination of the water supplies. This further limits the amount of water available for human consumption.

Surface waters

Surface waters can be simply described as the water that is on the surface of the Earth. This includes the oceans, rivers and streams, lakes, and reservoirs. Surface waters are very important. They constitute approximately 80 percent of the water used on a daily basis. In 1990, the United States alone used approximately 327,000 billion gallons of surface water a day. Surface waters make up the majority of the water used for public supply and irrigation. It plays less of a role in mining and livestock industries.

Oceans

Oceans, which are the largest source of surface water, comprise approximately 97 percent of the Earth’s surface water. However, since the oceans have high salinity, the water is not useful as drinking water. Efforts have been made to remove the salt from the water (desalination), but this is a very costly endeavor. Salt water is used in the mining process, in industry, and in power generation. The oceans also play a vital role in the hydrologic cycle, in regulating the global climate, and in providing habitats for thousands of marine species.

Groundwater(what percentage of the earth’s freshwater is available for drinking)

Ninety-eight percent of Earth’s available fresh water is groundwater. It is about 60 times as plentiful as the fresh water found in lakes and streams. Water in the ground travels through pores in soil and rock, and in fractures and weathered areas of bedrock. The amount of pore space present in rock and soil is known as porosity. The ability to travel through the rock or soil is known as permeability. The permeability and porosity measurements in rock and/or soil can determine the amount of water that can flow through that particular medium. A “high” permeability and porosity value means that the water can travel quickly.

Conclusion(what percentage of the earth’s freshwater is available for drinking)

Water on Earth is a finite source. Protecting the water means protecting all forms of the Groundwater can be found in aquifers. water found on Earth. Water at the surface, under the ground, in vapor form, and as precipitation. Pollution from using fossil fuels can impact all forms of water (from crude oil leaks to acid rain generated from coal burning). Acid rain falls onto the land and flows into the surface water, back into the ground, and back into the air. It can be an endless cycle.  . Most of the water on Earth is saline. Fresh water is and will be in demand and become a very valuable resource.

The water cycle

The hydrologic cycle or water cycle is a graphic representation of how water is recycled through the environment. Water molecules remain constant, though they may change between solid, liquid, and gas forms. Drops of water in the ocean evaporate, which is the process of liquid water becoming water vapor. Evaporation can occur from water surfaces, land surfaces, and snow fields into the air as water vapor.

Glaciers and ice caps

Glaciers and icecaps are referred to as storehouses for fresh water. They cover 10 percent of the world’s land mass. These glaciers are primarily located in Greenland and Antarctica. The glaciers in Greenland almost cover the entire land mass. Glaciers begin forming because of snowfall accumulation. When snowfall exceeds the rate of melting in a certain area, glaciers begin to form. This melting occurs in the summer. The weight of snow accumulating compresses the snow to form ice. Because these glaciers are so heavy, they can slowly move their way down hills.

Groundwater

Porosity and permeability of the sediment, soil, and bedrock in the area also affects the recharge rate of the groundwater. This means that in some areas, the groundwater can be pumped out faster than it can replenish itself. This creates a number of problems. One of these problems is called “drawdown,” a lowering of the aquifer near a pumping well. This can occur in areas where the well is pumping faster than the groundwater aquifer is recharged. Drawdown creates voids in the bedrock and can lead to additional land subsidence or sinkholes (as there is no longer water present and the void cannot hold the weight of the material above and collapses).

What percent of Earth is water?

The Earth is often compared to a majestic blue marble, especially by those privileged few who have gazed upon it from orbit. This is due to the prevalence of water on the planet’s surface. While water itself is not blue, water gives off blue light upon reflection.

For those of us confined to living on the surface, the fact that our world is mostly covered in water is a well known fact. But how much of our planet is made up of water, exactly? Like most facts pertaining to our world, the answer is a little more complicated than you might think, and takes into account a number of different qualifications.

In simplest terms, water makes up about 71% of the Earth’s surface, while the other 29% consists of continents and islands.

To break the numbers down

To break the numbers down, 96.5% of all the Earth’s water is contained within the oceans as salt water, while the remaining 3.5% is freshwater lakes and frozen water locked up in glaciers and the polar ice caps. Of that fresh water, almost all of it takes the form of ice: 69% of it, to be exact. If you could melt all that ice, and the Earth’s surface was perfectly smooth, the sea levels would rise to an altitude of 2.7 km.

Aside from the water that exists in ice form, there is also the staggering amount of water that exists beneath the Earth’s surface. If you were to gather all the Earth’s fresh water together as a single mass (as shown in the image above) it is estimated that it would measure some 1,386 million cubic kilometers (km3) in volume.

Meanwhile

Meanwhile, the amount of water that exists as groundwater, rivers, lakes, and streams would constitute just over 10.6 million km3, which works out to a little over 0.7%. Seen in this context, the limited and precious nature of freshwater becomes truly clear.

But how much of Earth is water—how much water contributes to the actual mass of the planet? This includes not just the surface of the Earth, but inside as well. Scientists calculate that the total mass of the oceans on Earth is 1.35 x 1018 metric tonnes, which is 1/4400 the total mass of the Earth. In other words, while the oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface, they only account for 0.02% of our planet’s total mass.

The origin of water on the Earth’s surface

The origin of water on the Earth’s surface, as well as the fact that it has more water than any other rocky planet in the Solar System, are two of long-standing mysteries concerning our planet.

Not that long ago, it was believed that our planet formed dry some 4.6 billion years ago, with high-energy impacts creating a molten surface on the infant Earth. According to this theory, water was brought to the world’s oceans thanks to icy comets, trans-Neptunian objects or water-rich meteoroids (protoplanets) from the outer reaches of the main asteroid belt colliding with the Earth.

the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in Woods Hole

However, more recent research conducted by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, has pushed the date of these origins back further. According to this new study, the world’s oceans also date back 4.6 billion years, when all the worlds of the inner Solar System were still forming.

This conclusion was reached by examining meteorites thought to have formed at different times in the history of the Solar System. Carbonaceous chondrite, the oldest meteorites that have been dated to the very earliest days of the Solar System, were found to have the same chemistry as those originating from protoplanets like Vesta. This includes a significance presence of water.

These meteorites are dated to the same epoch in which water was believed to have formed on Earth – some 11 million years after the formation of the Solar System. In short, it now appears that meteorites were depositing water on Earth in its earliest days.

While not ruling out the possibility that some of the water that covers 71 percent of Earth today may have arrived later, these findings suggest that there was enough already here for life to have begun earlier than thought.

how do you find percentile rank in excel

Summary

The Excel PERCENTRANK function returns the rank of a value in a data set as a percentage of the data set. You can use PERCENTRANK to find the relative standing of a value within a data set. Percentile rank is commonly used as a way to interpret standing in standardized tests.

Purpose

Get percentile rank, inclusive
Return value
Calculated rank as a decimal value
Syntax
=PERCENTRANK (array, x, [significance])
Arguments
  • array – Array of data values.
  • x – Value to rank.
  • significance – [optional] Number of significant digits in result. Defaults to 3.
Version
Excel 2003
Usage notes

The Excel PERCENTRANK shows the relative standing of a value within a data set as a percentage.

For example, a test score greater than 80% of all test scores is said to be at the 80th percentile. In this case PERCENTRANK will assign a rank of .80 to the score.

In the example shown, the formula in C5 is:

where “data” is the named range C5:C12.

Note: Microsoft classifies PERCENTRANK as a “compatibility function”, now replaced by the PERCENTRANK.INC function.

Inclusive vs. Exclusive

Starting with Excel 2010, the PERCENTRANK function has been replaced by two functions: PERECENTRANK.INC and PERECENTRANK.INC. The INC version represents “inclusive” behavior, and the EXC version represents “exclusive” behavior. Both formulas use the same arguments.

  • Use the PERCENTRANK.EXC function to determine the percentage rank exclusive of the first and last values in the array.
  • Use the PERCENTRANK.INC or PERCENTRANK to find the percentage rank inclusive of the first and last values in the array.

Notes

  • If x does not exist in the array, PERCENTRANK interpolates to find the percentage rank.
  • When significance is omitted PERCENTRANK returns three significant digits (0.xxx).

Excel SMALL Function

The Excel SMALL function returns numeric values based on their position in a list ranked by value. In other words, it can retrive “nth smallest” values – 1st smallest value, 2nd smallest value, 3rd smallest value, etc.

Excel LARGE Function

The Excel LARGE function returns numeric values based on their position in a list when sorted by value. In other words, it can retrieve “nth largest” values – 1st largest value, 2nd largest value, 3rd largest value, etc.

Excel RANK Function

The Excel RANK function returns the rank of a numeric value when compared to a list of other numeric values. RANK can rank values from largest to smallest (i.e. top sales) as well as smallest to largest (i.e. fastest time).

Excel QUARTILE Function

The Excel QUARTILE function returns the quartile (each of four equal groups) for a given set of data. QUARTILE can return minimum value, first quartile, second quartile, third quartile, and max value.

Excel PERCENTILE Function

The Excel PERCENTILE function calculates the “kth percentile” for a set of data. A percentile is a value below which a given percentage of values in a data set fall. You can use PERCENTILE to determine the 90th percentile, the 80th percentile,…

how do you calculate salary increase in excel

Hello dear friends, thank you for choosing us. In this post on the solsarin site, we will talk about “ how do you calculate salary increase in excel “.
Stay with us.
Thank you for your choice.

Easy steps to calculate salary increase percentage

Generally, most workers can receive a salary increase percentage for their well-executed work. Since ancient times, working is the most common way of earning money, which results in the human behavior of trading goods and services.

Every day, millions of people leave their homes to go to work and receive a salary, which is compensation for their services; It can be calculated weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, or as agreed between the worker and the employer.

In consequence, in this article, you will find a short guide to use Excel as a method for estimating your salary increase.

What does salary increase percentage mean?

Before starting with the calculation of your increase, it is important to remember that a salary is different from an hourly wage.

  • Salary is the amount of money that a worker receives on a fixed basis as compensation for his services; the amount is calculated according to the conditions established with the employer.
  • An hourly wage is a monetary compensation that a worker receives based on the number of hours he will have to work.

In addition, sometimes your employer can increase your salary by a certain percentage. This can occur due to many reasons, among the most common we find: good performance, extra work, or increased production thanks to your efficiency in your workplace.

How to use Excel for this purpose?

Microsoft Excel is a very useful tool in terms of mathematical operations. Thanks to all the functions that the program has, it is possible to perform any calculation in minutes by using the pre-determined formulas or creating one of your own.

In this case, we will use it to show you what is the increase percentage after receiving a higher salary.

Step 1

The first step is to create a new document in Excel and identify the cells before writing the data for the formulas.

From cell A1 through E1 write the following: old salary, new salary, difference, decimal, and increase percentage.

Step 2

Then, in cell A2 write your salary before getting the increase or bonus. For instance, if your last payment was $50,000, then write 50000.

how do you calculate salary increase in excel
how do you calculate salary increase in excel

Step 3

In cell B2, you will write your new salary. For example: if you accept a new position that pays $65,000, write 65000.

Step 4

Then, the first calculation you need to do is subtracting your old salary from your new one. In cell C2 write: =B2-A2 and press enter. Automatically, cell C2 will show the difference between both.

Step 5

In cell D2, you will transform the difference into a decimal, so that you can use it later in the percentage formula. To do so, divide the difference by the amount of your old salary. Write: =C2/A2 and press enter.

Step 6

Now, you only need to turn the decimal into a percentage by multiplying it by 100. In cell E2 write: =D2*100 and press enter. Based on the example, if you got a $15,000 increase, this means that you received a 30% increase.

Gross salary vs. Overtime

In the same way that you can calculate the percentage increase in your salary, Microsoft Excel can also calculate the amount you can receive for overtime and the amount of your gross salary.

gross salary

The gross salary is what that the employer pays you without including deductions that are generally made, such as taxes or insurance.

In contrast, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, overtime is the number of hours an employee works outside of the legal 40 hours in a normal workweek. In that case, if you worked 45 hours, you should be paid 5 overtime hours.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) states that all employers must pay their workers the amount of at least 1 regular pay rate for each overtime hour.

How to Work Out a Percentage Using a Calculator

If you’ve ever found yourself staring at a half-eaten pie, wondering how the portion that’s left compares to the size of the original pie, congratulations: You’ve been contemplating percentages. Although technically the term “percentage” refers to a portion out of 100, in real-world terms it really deals with how a portion of something – say, that half-eaten pie – compares to the whole. For example, one-half is equal to 50 percent, or 50 out of 100. You can use a calculator to easily work out percentages.

The three terms in a percentage calculation

The three terms in a percentage calculation are the part, the whole, and the percentage. In the equation:

25\% \text{ of }40 = 10

this part

10 is the part, 40 is the whole, and 25 is the percentage. In the math world, working out percentages usually means that one of those terms is missing and you need to find it. If the question is “What percentage of 40 is 10?” you have the part (10) and the whole (40), so the omitted term is the percentage. If the question is “What is 25 percent of 40?” you have the percentage (25) and the whole (40), so the missing term is the part. Using the same logic, if the question is “10 is 25 percent of what?” the missing term is the whole.

If the omitted term is the percentage, divide the part by the whole using your calculator to determine the answer. For the example equation, this is

10 ÷ 40 = 0.25

If your calculator has a percentage button, press it to determine the percentage. If your calculator does not have such a button, multiply your previous answer by 100 to determine the percentage:

0.25 × 100 = 25\%

If the omitted term is the part, use the calculator to multiply the whole by the percentage to determine the answer. If your calculator has a percentage button, the calculation is as follows:

40 × 25\% = 10

If your calculator does not have a percentage button, you must first divide the percentage by 100:

25 ÷ 100 = 0.25

You can then multiply this answer by the whole to determine the part:

0.25 × 40 = 10

If the omitted term is the whole, divide the part by the percentage to determine the answer. If your calculator has a percentage button, the calculation is as follows:

10 ÷ 25\% = 40

If your calculator does not have a percentage button, you must divide the percentage by 100 before completing the calculation:

25 ÷ 100 = 0.25

You can then divide the part by this answer to determine the whole:

10 ÷ 0.25 = 40

How to Do Percentages on a Calculator

A percentage is a special way of representing a portion of something. A percentage is a number that indicates a fraction made up of 100 parts. Thus, 100% means the whole thing (whatever is being measured), while 50% means one half. If you learn how to write numbers as percentages, it then becomes easy to perform multiplication and other calculations with percentages on a calculator. Some calculators even have a % button that makes the calculation even easier.

1

Review the general meaning of fractions. A fraction is a comparison between two numbers, usually representing the size of a part of something to the size of the whole thing. The classic example is a pie that is cut into eight, for example, equal portions. The top of the fraction, called the

numerator, represents the number of pieces you select.

The bottom of the fraction, called the

denominator, represents the total number of pieces in the pie

– in this case, 8.[1]

  • For example, the fraction 1/8 represents one piece of the pie that has been cut in eight pieces.
  • The fraction 7/8 represents 7 pieces, almost the full pie.
  • 2

Recognize the special relationship of percentages. A percentage is a special kind of fraction in which the

denominator is always set at 100.

[2] While this is not practical when cutting slices of an actual pie, the concept of percentages is much more useful because it is standard.

    • With fractions, the size of “half” of something will depend on the number of pieces. If your “pie” is cut into 8 pieces, then half would be 4. But if your “pie” is in 22 pieces, then half would be 11. The target always changes. But with percentages, one-half is always the same – 50%.
    • It’s helpful to remember that the word “percent” actually means “of 100″—”per” means “of,” and “cent” means “100.”[3]

    3

Use a calculator to convert any fraction to a decimal or percentage. If you are presented with any fraction, you can very easily convert it to a decimal number using any calculator. Just recognize that a fraction represents a division problem, and

use your calculator to divide the numerator by the denominator.

Your calculator will give you the decimal equivalent of the fraction.[4]

    • Suppose you have the fraction 1/2. On your calculator, perform the operation 1 ÷ 2, and the calculator will show the result 0.5.
how to work out percentages on scientific calculator
how to work out percentages on scientific calculator
    • Convert the fraction 1/4 into a decimal by performing the operation 1 ÷ 4. The result is 0.25.
    • For a more complicated example, you can convert the fraction 274/312 into a decimal with the operation 274 ÷ 312. The result will be 0.878. (There are more digits, but for our purposes we can stop at three.)

    4

Convert decimals to percentages by shifting the decimal point. If you have a number that is already represented by a decimal, converting that to a percentage is easy. Because the decimal numbering system is based on factors of 10, you can transform a decimal number into a percentage by simply

shifting the decimal point by two spaces to the right and then adding a % sign.

If your decimal number consists of only one digit, you can add 0’s on the right of the number, such as turning 0.5 into 0.50 or even 0.500. These all have the same numerical value.[5]

    • Consider the example above of 1/2, which we converted to the decimal of 0.5. To change this decimal to a percentage, shift the decimal point two spaces to the right. First rewrite 0.5 as 0.50. Then when you shift the decimal point two spaces, you turn 0.50 into the number 50%.
    • The example of 1/4, which has a decimal equivalent of 0.25, can be turned into the percentage 25%..

how percent of brain we use

Hello dear friends, thank you for choosing us. In this post on the solsarin site, we will talk about “   how percent of brain we use “.
Stay with us.
Thank you for your choice.

"how

Overview

You can thank your brain for everything you feel and understand about yourself and the world. But how much do you truly know about the complex organ in your head?

If you’re like most people, some of the things you think about your brain may not be true at all. Let’s explore some common beliefs about the brain to find out if they’re true.

1: Do you really use only 10 percent of your brain?

The idea that we only use 10 percent of our brain is deeply entrenched in popular culture and often stated as fact in books and movies. A 2013 study found that 65 percent of Americans believe this to be true.

It’s not entirely clear how it all started, but it’s more science fiction that fact.

Sure, some parts of your brain are working harder than others at any given time. But 90 percent of your brain isn’t useless filler. Magnetic resonance imaging shows that most of the human brain is active most of the time. In the course of a day, you use just about every part of your brain.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t improve your brain health. Your whole body is depending on your brain. Here’s how to give your brain the TLC it deserves:

Eat well

A well-balanced diet improves overall health as well as brain health. Eating right reduces the risk of developing health conditions that can lead to dementia.

Foods that promote brain health include:

  • olive oil
  • fruits and vegetables high in vitamin E, such as blueberries, broccoli, and spinach
  • fruits and vegetables high in beta carotene, such as spinach, red peppers, and sweet potatoes
  • foods rich in antioxidants, such as walnuts and pecans
  • omega-3 fatty acids that can be found in fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and albacore tuna

Exercise your body

Regular physical activity helps reduce the risk of health problems that can cause dementia.

Challenge your brain

Research indicates that activities like crossword puzzles, chess, and deep reading can lower your risk of memory problems. Even better is a mentally stimulating hobby that involves a social component, such as a book club.

2: Is it true that you get new brain “wrinkles” when you learn something?

Not all brains are wrinkled. In fact, most animals have fairly smooth brains. Some exceptions are primates, dolphins, elephants, and pigs, which also happen to be some of the more intelligent animals.

The human brain is exceptionally wrinkled. That’s probably why people conclude that we gain more wrinkles as we learn new things. But that’s not how we acquire brain wrinkles.

brain

Your brain starts developing wrinkles before you’re even born. The wrinkling continues as your brain grows, until you’re about 18 months old.

Think of the wrinkles as folds. The crevices are called sulci and the raised areas are called gyri. The folds allow room for more gray matter inside your skull. It also decreases wiring length and improves overall cognitive functioning.

Human brains vary quite a bit, but there’s still a typical pattern to brain folds. Research shows that not having the major folds in the right places could cause some dysfunction.

3: Can you really learn through subliminal messages?

Various studies suggest that subliminal messages might be able to:

  • provoke an emotional response
  • affect perception of effort and whole-body endurance performance
  • challenge age-related stereotypesTrusted Source and improve physical functioning
  • motivate you to do things you probably wanted to do anyway.
  • how percent of brain we use
how percent of brain we use

Learning entirely new things is far more complicated.

Say you’ve been studying a foreign language. There’s only a small chance that listening to vocabulary words in your sleep can help you remember them a bit better. A 2015 study found that this is true only under the best of circumstances. The researchers noted that you can’t learn new things during your sleep.

On the other hand, sleep is crucial to brain function. Getting adequate sleep can help improve learning, memory, and problem-solving skills.

Perhaps the boost to intellectual performance from sleep is the reason this myth endures. If you want to learn something new, your best bet is to tackle it head on rather than subliminally.

4: Is there such a thing as being left-brained or right-brained?

Well, your brain definitely has a left side (left brain) and a right side (right brain). Each hemisphere controls certain functions and movement on the opposite side of your body.

Beyond that, the left brain is more verbal. It’s analytical and orderly. It takes in the small details, and then puts them together to understand the whole picture. The left brain handles reading, writing, and calculations. Some call it the logical side of the brain.

The right brain is more visual and deals in images more than words. It processes information in an intuitive and simultaneous manner. It takes in the big picture, and then looks at the details. Some say it’s the creative, artsy side of the brain.

There’s a popular theory that people can be divided into left-brained or right-brained personalities based on one side being dominant. Left-brained people are said to be more logical, and right-brained people are said to be more creative.

After a two-year analysisTrusted Source, a team of neuroscientists found no evidence to prove this theory. Brain scans showed that humans don’t favor one hemisphere over the other. It’s not likely that the network on one side of your brain is substantially stronger than the opposite side.

As with most things relating to the human brain, it’s complicated. While each hemisphere has its strengths, they don’t work in isolation. Both sides contribute something to logical and creative thinking.

5: Does alcohol really kill your brain cells?

There’s no question that alcohol affects the  in negative ways. It can impair  function even in the short term. In the longer term, it can lead to serious brain damage. It doesn’t actually kill brain cells, though.

Long-term heavy drinking can cause shrinking of the brain and result in deficiencies in white matter. This can lead to:

  • slurred speech
  • blurred vision
  • balance and coordination problems
  • slowed reaction times
  • memory impairment, including blackouts\

Exactly how alcohol affects an individual’s brain depends on many factors, including:

  • age
  • gender
  • how much and how often you drink, and how long you’ve been drinking
  • general health status
  • family history of substance abuse

Alcoholics are prone to developing a brain disorder called Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. Symptoms include:

  • mental confusion
  • paralysis of nerves that control eye movement
  • muscle coordination problems and difficulty walking
  • chronic learning and memory problems

Drinking during pregnancy

Drinking during pregnancy can affect your baby’s developing brain, a condition known as fetal alcohol syndrome. Children with fetal alcohol syndrome tend to have smaller brain volume (microcephaly). They can also have fewer brain cells or normally functioning neurons. This can cause long-term behavioral and learning problems.

Alcohol may interfere with the brain’s ability to grow new brain cells, which is another reason this myth may persist.

Brain

A brain is an organ that serves as the center of the nervous system in all vertebrate and most invertebrate animals. It is located in the head, usually close to the sensory organs for senses such as vision. It is the most complex organ in a vertebrate’s body. In a human, the cerebral cortex contains approximately 14–16 billion neurons,[1] and the estimated number of neurons in the cerebellum is 55–70 billion.[2] Each neuron is connected by synapses to several thousand other neurons. These neurons typically communicate with one another by means of long fibers called axons, which carry trains of signal pulses called action potentials to distant parts of the brain or body targeting specific recipient cells.

how to use percent off calculator

Hello, welcome to solsarin site. We’re glad you chose our site for the information you’ve been looking at.
Our goal is to educate and answer your questions in this post we want to find out” how to use percent off calculator”
Stay with us🌹

“Percent off” and discount

Actually, “percent off” and “a discount” are the exact same thing. Imagine it’s Black Friday and all of the goods in a certain store are 75% off. Our sale calculator will figure out how much money stays in your pocket!

How to figure out percentages

Our percent off calculator is a special case of a percentage change, more specifically it uses the percentage decrease formula. The process of calculating your discount is as follows:

  1. Enter the original price into our percent off calculator. For example, a TV set might originally set you back $5000.
  2. Determine the percentage discount – in our example store, everything is 75% off.
  3. The sum that stays in your pocket – your savings – is simply these two values multiplied by each other: 75% * $5000 = 0.75 * $5000 = $3750.
  4. The final price of the product on sale is the difference between the original price and savings: $5000 = $3750 = $1250.
  5. You can also use the percent off calculator to determine how much more you have to pay if the price of the product goes up! Simply type a negative value into the “off” box – our calculator will use the percentage increase formula.

Make sure to check out our commission calculator if you’re interested in the salesperson’s fee as well.

FAQ

How to calculate percent off?

To calculate the new number:

  1. Divide the number by 100 (move the decimal place two places to the left).
  2. Multiply this new number by the percentage you want to take off.
  3. Subtract the number from step 2 from the original number. This is your percent off number.

How much is 20 percent off?

20 percent off depends on the original cost:

  1. Take the original number and divide it by 10.
  2. Double your new number.
  3. Subtract your doubled number from the original number.
  4. You have taken 20 percent off! For $30, you should have $24.

How much is 10 percent off?

Taking 10 percent off a number changes depending on the original number:

  1. Divide your number by 10.
  2. Subtract this new number from your original number.
  3. You’ve taken 10 percent off!

How much is 15 percent off?

Finding 15 percent off is affected by the original number:

  1. Divide your original number by 20 (halve it then divide by 10).
  2. Multiply this new number by 3.
  3. Subtract the number from step 2 off of your original number.
  4. You’ve just found your percentage off!

How much is 30 percent off?

To take 30 percent off a number:

  1. Divide the number by 10.
  2. Triple this new number.
  3. Subtract your triple from your starting number.
  4. That’s 30 percent off! For $30, you should have $21.

How much percent is off on Black Friday?

The percent you save on Black Friday and Cyber Monday changes depending on the item and store you are looking at. The average percent off on Black Friday is 35%, but be sure to shop around to make sure you’re getting the best deal!

Calculator Use

Calculate the sale price you will pay for an item based on the type of discount in the sale promotion:

  • Percent off list price
  • Fraction off list price
  • Multi-item discount

You can also compare discounts to find the lowest price for an item. Enter a percentage off price, fraction off price, multiple items for the price of one or other “two-for” type discounts. Compare the final discounted price for each in the answer table.

Delete any pricing inputs you don’t need for your calculations.

Sale Price Formulas and Calculations

Percent Off Price Formula

Discounted price = List price – (List price x (percentage / 100))

Example: Sale price is 25% off list price of $130

  1. Convert 25% to a decimal by dividing by 100: 25/100 = 0.25
  2. Multiply list price by decimal percent: 130*0.25 = 32.50
  3. Subtract discount amount from list price:
  4. 130 – 32.50 = 97.50

Fraction Off Price Formula

Discounted price = List price – (List price x fraction)

Example: Sale price is 1/3 off list price of $120

  1. Multiply list price by the fraction discount: 120*1/3 = 40
  2. Subtract discount amount from list price: 120 – 40 = 80
  3. With the formula:
    120 – (120*1/3) =
    120 – 40 = 80
  4. 1/3 off $120 is $80
how to use percent off calculator
how to use percent off calculator

Multi-Item Discount Formula

Discounted price per item = (Number of items at list price x list price) / Number of items in discount deal

Example: Sale is 4 items for the price of 3. Regular list price is $20.

  1. Multiply number of items at list price, by list price: 3*20 = 60
  2. You are paying $60 and you’ll get 4 items
  3. The discount price for each item is 60/4 = $15
  4. With the formula:
    (3*20) / 4 =
    60 /4 = 15
  5. Buying 4 for 3 at $20 each means you’ll spend $60 for 4 items; the per item discounted price is $15. If you compare to the non-discounted price of $20, you can save $5 per item with this multi-item discount sale.

Percent Of or Fraction Of Price

You may occasionally see sales promotions for “Percent Of” or “Fraction Of” list price. To do these calculations, simply multiply the list price by the discount to get the sale price. Examples:

Sale price is 80% of list price of $50

  1. Convert 80% to decicmal by dividing by 100: 80/100 = 0.8
  2. Multiply list price by decimal rate: $50*0.8 = $40.
  3. Sale price is $40

Sale price is 2/3 of list price of $90

  1. Multiply list price by 2/3: $90*2/3 = 180/3 = $60
  2. Sale price is $60

How to calculate percent off?

Percent off calculations are usually needed when there is an item or service on sale, or when you have a percent off coupon and you want to know how much that would save you in absolute terms, or how much you would need to pay in the end, after the discount has been applied. That is, if there is a 20% sale of an item that costs $100 (or €100), how much is that in USD/EUR, etc. In this case those 20 percent off means 20 bucks will remain in your pocket when you purchase.

The calculation is really straightforward:

Final price = Original Price x ((100 – %Off) / 100)

To calculate using our percent off calculator, enter the original price (base price) in the “Original price” field. Then enter the discount as percentage in the “Percent off” field, and click “Calculate”.

The calculator will output the final price you need to pay and the savings you are making in absolute terms (in USD, EUR, etc.).

In many countries and jurisdictions, it is mandatory to display the original price, the discount percent and the final price, but that is not always the case, meaning that the result from a percent off calculator might not give you the final price in all cases. You should be mindful of the local or regional jurisdiction when using our tool.
